A Victorian-Inspired Shweshwe Skirt In The Making

I have designed this shweshwe skirt for a friend using some of the shweshwe fabric purchased from Shweshwe.net in South Africa and after some persuasion I agreed even though I am on a tight schedule. The skirt is a romantic style, Victorian inspired, has a gored panels, full cotton petticoat/ lining and and has white lace peeping from beneath, If she likes it she will order a bustier top to go with it. I will post more pictures once the skirt is complete.

Stunning Shweshwe Material from Shweshwe.net Shop

The prices are very reasonable and the owner Rene was very helpful and prompt from advising with fabric selection and with shipping information she was very consistent , It took about a month to have the material shipped from South Africa to the UK

I have made a few shweshwe outfits which would fly off the shelves as soon as they were complete by eager customers, I still have some few shweshwe fabrics left over

The materials fetured in the photos are in a variety of Indigo and Brown designs including my favourite one with the legendary ex South African President Nelson Mandela print, showing a bust of him wearing one of his famous Madiba designs shirt, which are world famous.
